GULU CARBON COMPENSATION SCHEME

The Gulu Carbon Compensation Scheme comprises a set of projects drawn up through a community consultative and participatory process, and designed to assist the people of Gulu district in Northern Uganda adapt to and mitigate the impacts of future climate change.
The scheme is funded by Lancashire County Council in collaboartion with Lancashire-Gulu Local Agenda 21 Link, as part of a new Community Climate Change Programme for Lancashire. The scheme will enable people in Lancashire to compensate in a practical way for some of the consequences their lifestyles impact on the global environment.
The projects are to be managed by Gulu Municipal Council in collaboration with Gulu-Lancashire Local Agenda 21 Link Association.These projects are: 1. Community Integrated Wetland Management Project, 2. Biodiesel Demonstration Project, 3. Agro Forestry and Organic Farming Project, 4. Smallholder Timber Plantation Project, 5. Integrated Bee Keeping Project, and 6. Integrated Solid Waste Management Project.
